The Islington Urban Design Guide (IUDG) is a supplementary planning document that provides design principles and standards for the whole of the borough that expand and provide further detail to the core policies in the council’s emerging Islington Local Development Framework (LDF), the Islington Unitary Development Plan (UDP) 2002, and the London Plan 2004. The IUDG responds to the ODPM Planning Policy Statement 1 (PPS1), which states that planning authorities should prepare robust policies on design.
